March Review

This month certainly went by fast. I'm in a cogitation mode this month. I've spent time reflecting and just letting the creative portion of my brain relax. I realized that I haven't been up to my usual activities. I spent a little time looking at what's been getting my attention. These are the 'happenings' for March.

Rec'd some sewing room supplies from Craftsy.
Made some paste papers. These were part of an online course I'm taking, Creative Strength Training with Jane Dunnewold and daughter Zenna.
I was trying to get the label off this bottle by using water from my coffee maker. Not the best idea.
I visited Magnolia Plantation and Gardens before the freezing temps we had for a few days.
We spent some time in Columbia, SC visiting the Riverbanks Zoo, Botanical Gardens, and walked along the Columbia Canal and Riverfront Park.

I received a lovely Hydrangea from my neighbor, a new iPad (with pencil and keyboard), and a driveway greeting card for my birthday.  I put that camel picture in just for Myriah to enjoy!

I literally tore up 4 sheets, and rolled them into bandages for missions. 127 were made this time.

I'm accomplishing my tasks for Basic Crazy Quilting Course #2 with Kathy Shaw. I pulled together some color groupings, did some color seeds work, and then pulled the final pieces for my crazy quilt block. I'm thru task #7 and my next step is to choose some trims and laces. That is a bit difficult for me, but I'll get it done before I run out of time.
I decided to capture those paste papers onto fabric. I'll be using the paper or the fabric on the composition books I sanded and painted with gesso. I also got my shells out of the bleach bath, rinsed, and once dry they will be ready to have a coat of mineral oil rubbed into them. I want to take some of these on vacation to have the grandkids mod podge napkins onto them.
I also volunteered to do the long arm quilting of this beautiful quilt that the Ducks made. My stitches are indistinguishable on that paisley print that they gave me for the backing. 90,638 stitches on this one.
I've also gotten the PFAG workshop budget, trifold brochure, and acknowledgement letter done.
I wish that all of you lived close enough to come to this. We would have a such a wonderful time together. But, alas, we are all over this big world of ours. Maybe, someday,,,

The hubby got the sink cutout from my new granite counters put onto an heirloom of mine.

We have spent time with family and friends. The Summerville Orchestra's presentation called March Madness was superb, as usual. We have a new conductor, young and full of energy! He's a delight to be around even if you see him at Coastal Coffee Roasters having a cup of,,,
St. Paul's Tearoom offered some great food again this year. My friends, Pam and Marie, went with me and we did a little shopping in the boutique area after enjoying our lunch. I couldn't resist another piece for my 'Beach house'. I may add a few more shells, sand dollars and starfish.

I signed on for an Internediate Crazy Quilting Course, also with Kathy Shaw. This one, #105, deals with silk ribbon work. We'll be getting some printable designs to work with. I can trace onto pastel toned cloth or print with these sheets. This is the product I used for capturing the paste paper images onto cloth.

That's about it for this month. I have today and tomorrow before it's over.
So, Let's Create TODAY!

On a personal note:
I've been losing a little each week as I check in with my Weight Watchers group in Ladson, SC. I've only had one week that I had a minimal gain, but it was cold and I wore heavier clothes to stay warm. I learned my lesson, dress in layers! LOL

Dimensional Weaving & Embellishing Workshop

We have Martina Celerin coming to the Charleston, SC area in October. This will be a very interesting and diverse workshop. No previous experience or equipment is needed. Everyone can join in on this without being a "weaver".

Day By Day, February 15-28

February 15- I woke up this morning with a terrible headache. I got moving after lunch and put away all the paraphernalia left over from Saturday's Silk Fusion Workshop. The studio's table is cleared off now.
I did a little alteration on a pair of 'relaxed fit' jeans. I definitely feel thinner in closer fitting jeans.
I made an insert for a tumbler. I forgot to get a picture before inserting it and once in, not coming out!

February 16- Today I made significant progress on my BCQC project. I removed it from the aqua borders and found a soft green for it to sit on. I used a herringbone stitch to attach it. I then played with some embellishments. None are permanent, yet. But I'm much happier with where it is at.

Flowers are blooming around the yard!

February 17- A shell dressed to go out on the town. And more waiting to be dressed.

February 18- Palmetto Fiber Arts Guild. SEFAA Representative, Lynn Tinley is our speaker. It was a great meeting. We learned about SEFAA. It's located close to Atlanta, Georgia. I think several of us are interested in becoming members and doing road trips for some of the events.
When I arrived home, my insert for the kitchen sink had arrived. I'm happy with my purchase!

February 19- Out to lunch with friends after church. The camellia, in front of OLC, is in full bloom today.
Some of my grandkids were able to enjoy unseasonably warm weather in northern Illinois.

February 20- WW weigh-in day. Yeah! My focusing on healthy eating paid off with another loss.

February 21- While I try to vary my walking route each time I go out, I do enjoy checking up on the azaleas just two blocks away. There's about 4 large clumps of these, each about a 4' mound of pink.

February 22- I received another box of 'creative goodness'.  I enjoy looking through these goodies, and finding them appropriate homes. This time, they are speaking directly to my heart. They will inspire me for a time before going on their way to other creatives. There are several packets of small samples, complete with description of stitch used. I'd love to use them in an art piece of some sort, with a map for others to be able to identify the stitches she used.

February 23- The peach trees are blooming in our area.

February 24-  The pines are giving off copious amounts of yellow pollen. I'll be glad when this is over.

February 25-  Today was a lovely day to visit Mepkin Abbey.

February 26- Happy Birthday to Leslie. George is helping at church today.

February 27- WW weigh-in day. I am down another .4 for a total of 7.2 pounds lost since starting on February 9th. Signed up for Creative Strength Training, with Jane Dunnewold. There are 5 of us taking it. It's an online 10 month course. We will work through the monthly offerings individually. Then get together for discussion and community time, as it works into the schedules of 5 very active people.

February 28-  In the mail today I only had one piece addressed to me. It's filled with inspiration.

Well, that's the wrap up for February. It has been a very interesting month. I've invested time in a lot of areas that I will share with you soon.

As always,
May God bless you throughout your week.
