Sunday Supper

George smoked a brisket for supper. He started about 7 this morning and we sat down at 5 tonight. I made some coleslaw to go with it. Big yum! It was tender and the tastiest meat I think I've ever had!

Sometimes it's the other guy that's doing the creating!

I hope your day has ended with good food and a loved one to share it with.

Saturday Activities

,

Festivals, Farmers Markets, Plantation Tours, or just a fun filled Beach Day!

Saturdays are a day we tend to do something out of the ordinary. Today, we are heading up to Prosperity, SC for a festival. We haven't been to this one before, but it looked very interesting on the write up we saw. So, off we go.

A treasure I brought home. This was made by Jennifer Stott of J. Stott Pottery. She was so friendly and kind. She lives in Chapin, SC. Her booth had so many lovely pieces it was hard to decide. But, my all time favorite color won!
And the inside has a lovely swirl design.

One of the best parts of today was that George and I enjoyed it together. We both were relaxed and in the mood for kicking back and going with the flow, accepting whatever came about.

Let's Create, more togetherness, Today,

Intentional: to do something with purpose

May's Goal: Live Intentionally

It was a few years back when I decided to stop pursuing what I was "supposed" to be doing and start fully enjoying what I "was" doing. That was an intentional decision. It was much akin to my deciding that I would not be involved in any more yard sales. That had a very significant impact on my way of handling the accumulation of stuff I had. Then we moved half way across the country. During the preparation for that I became aware of how much I still was hanging onto. Well, the goal was to bless others with better than half of our belongings. We did it but here we are, 18 months later, and still finding stuff we want to pass along. I credit some of this to acceptance. Yes, accepting the fact that the stuff that had once looked so interesting no longer held much appeal. I have intentionally started the process of making choices based on where I am now, not what I was thinking about in the past. Letting go of poor choices, outdated items, and in general the things that are taking up space but not giving me any pleasure in ownership.

This past week has been an intentionally productive one. First I wrote out a simple routine for my mornings and kept it in view. I used a timer when I wanted to quit, or not even start! Big thanks to FLYLady for her encouraging words, "You can do anything for 15 minutes!" I did not over commit but I put a lot of items on my 'nice to be done by Friday list'. And I'm happy to say that many of those items have been crossed off. Things such as washing the four windows and screens on the second floor, hanging the metal bird at the front entry, checking on the flowers around the yard, two shelf units positioned correctly in the sewing room, and even getting the ironing done from this week's laundry.

With so many daily choices to be made I want to know that I have invested most of my time in worthwhile pursuits. I believe relationships are of the highest priority. Communication and interaction needs to be genuine and uplifting. For me, an orderly environment is a basic need. I realize very quickly when stuff begins to pile up. This can be physical stuff like magazines, mental stuff like not having a flexible schedule to flex from, or emotional stuff like being involved in other people's drama. A calmness to my life is what keeps things in order. I glean this from simple things that are a part of my daily routine. I look forward to a time each morning when I read in my Bible, write in my gratitude journal, and just sit and ponder God's love. After that I check through my written routine and if I have any special requests of my time. Then I get myself into motion, and I tend to stay in motion until my timer goes off. It reminds me to take a short break, stretch, get water, and maybe even talk a brisk walk.

Enough for today, I will leave you with some of today's pictures from around my yard.

I hope you have enjoyed the tour around my yard. I wish you could come for tea.
Tomorrow I will be going to Prosperity, SC for a festival. It should be very interesting.

Let's create with intentionality,

Busy Week Over and Busy Week Ahead

This past week has been a busy one, indeed!

Monday was the usual routine of laundry and general cleaning.

Tuesday brought a full day of artsy stuff and an evening with our Ladies Ministry group at church. We had Secret Sisters last year and this was on the apron Julie gave me,

Wednesday included decluttering of the Art Studio. I tend to save a lot of "stuff" that can be recycled.

Thursday had Jennifer from Farm to Table Delivery stopping by with our produce, dairy, and meat order.

Friday morning I went to ABC at 9:30 to introduce myself to the With These Hands group of stitchers.
That afternoon I also connected with a stitcher in my neighborhood and was invited to join another group.

Saturday, the Palmetto Fiber Arts Guild met at the Charleston Museum for a behind-the-scenes tour of some of the lovely textiles they have available for study. Maria Louisa and Maria introduced me to Puerto Rican food afterwards. I had steak Mofongo. Getting to know these two ladies was definitely the highpoint of the entire day.

Sunday came and off to Cornerstone Baptist Church we went. Salmon on the grill was George's offering for our lunch. Also took care of getting the menu planned for the upcoming week and did the grocery shopping.

AND now for the upcoming week's activities:

Monday- laundry, general cleaning, install driver for new printer, haircut (?), prepare Sangria dye solution and do the first testing of it, Playday if Fran can make it, and all the other things I have on my "routine"

Tuesday- first day of a new Bible study group, lunch with friends, spend some time in my sewing room OR dyeing more things if I like the Sangria color

Wednesday- I'll be meeting Vicki and the group of stitchers at the clubhouse nearby for a morning of stitching and lunch with them, hopefully I will be in the midst of some dyeing or deconstructed screen printing

Thursday- Leslie's Birthday, should do a full system backup on my computer, and I'd better get some progress done on the Challenge #1 piece I've been mulling over for too long

Friday- will be checking in with Carol at the Antique shop for an update on my consigned items, set appointment for health insurance conference, Challenge #1 piece! ! ! !

Saturday- George will be away for the weekend so this would be a very good time to work in my sewing lab or art studio and order food delivered????

Sunday- March 1, time to tweak the plan and decide on weekly focuses

I think that's a pretty full week coming up. I'll let you know how well I do at staying to plan.

Let's Create Today,
Something that brings us joy and contentment.

Happy Valentine's Day

Every day is a day to share God's love. Valentine's Day should remind us how important this is.

George and I spent the weekend sightseeing and enjoying being with each other. We stayed in Beaufort, SC. We visited The Old Sheldon Church, Fort Fremont, Fort Pulaski, Tybee Island, Hilton Head, The Ace Basin area, Hunting Island, and some nice restaurants.

I haven't downloaded all the pics yet, but here are a couple from some church ruins we saw on the road out to Fort Fremont.
This is one of very few remaining examples of tabby concrete.

I find the designs in metal work very intriguing.

This was from the 1700s. Amazing how some things have lasted.

We had a great time. As usual, we were glad to get back home. Even though I enjoy seeing the country, I prefer sleeping in my own bed.
