A Very Productive Week

I put a few more stitches on my jacket. This was wrapped chain stitch and variations on the basic stitch. 

I got busy and covered my design walls, first with solid color felt or batting. Then it was time to fill them with projects, and some finished pieces that continue to inspire me. 

The grey background has a couple of empty spots where some pieces were, but I've been busy!

One of those taken down was the 10 pieces of printed fabric that distorted once they were sewn together. I picked out all of the stitches, squared them up and reseed them into this:

I'm not sure just how this will get finished, but I have a couple of ideas already. I'm just glad that it is now square, even if I haven't put it on the wall that way! LOL

And I finished making 40 square-in-a-square blocks for the BOM Mystery quilt along. 

Assisted, minimally, with getting my dryer vent cleaned out! PLEASE, check yours, and get it cleaned, I never would have imagined this much could have accumulated. 

And there were four chunks this size or larger!!

I also got busy with Craftsy BOM Summer 2015 project. I had finished one block, and the cutting of several basic pieces before I went on vacation in October. I had 15 more 12" blocks to do, and then for November the installment was for the central motif, a 20" block. The first picture is of 12 of the blocks laying on the floor, I don't have quite the right space to see all 16. Three of the last four appear after the center block. 

It looks like the blue underline thing has resurfaced! Time to post this and get ready for bed!

One Step Forward, Two Steps in some other direction!

It seems that sometimes my plans just don't make it past the writing stage. How often does this sort of thing happen to you? 

I got a couple of stitching lines added to my jacket:

Four client quilts were completed.

And then, like right now with this underline thing going on! I'm on my iPad, I have no idea why it's typing in blue and underlining everything!   

I give up, I'm calling this post done. I'll let you know next week if things improved or not.

November Intentions

I apologize for the first posting of this. All of my spacing was lost, and even I couldn't decipher what I meant! 

This string quilt is going to be an inspiration for a 'leader-ender' project for this month.

Roots challenge - this was due October 1st,,

Client quilts. 3 are in and all decisions are made. Another one is in decision mode. 

Put Dragonfly Fabric Book pages together. 

Get the four mirrors up on the walls

Move forward on collage piece

Finish: binding stitch outs into useable hotpads or mug rugs

           Mondo bag #2

           Assorted pieces of quilted fabric into useful items (totes, table runners, etc)

Work on at least one of the "free flow" pieces

Start nests/beginnings, enough thinking has been done!

Do some surface design work for fabric swap group

Continue with 'elements' class work

Dye four silk scarves 

Woven ribbon piece - cut up and used in pillows for the grands

Cathedral window piece to be mounted and framed

Finish the thread sketch on poppy 

Long arm practice - new techniques, feet, ideas

Make at least one 'millefiori' hexi

And a few more items that I will surprise you with!! 

 I'll be surprised too if I get HALF of this done.

October Review

I have 5 1/2 hours to midnight,, and I could grab an extra hour due to DST ending during tonight. I'm taking my chances that I won't have any addition finishes,,, so here goes the reviewing. 

As I look back over the month, I realize that my energy has a real ebb and flow to it. At the beginning of the month I had 7 finishes before I left for vacation on the 8th. That was exhausting and exhilarating at the same time. Here are those finishes:

Sunrise/Sunset Wallhanging

Poppy Fields Quilt, perfect size to be called a fireplace screen. 

My first Mondo Bag, definitely not my last!

Princess 

Canberra Tree, and some art work from my grandkids. 

A client's quilt.

And I made progress on my BOM by getting directions printed and one block made,

I also got about half of the pieces cut for the next 15 blocks,

Then while on vacation I did some free form stitching on my hand dyed jacket,

Upon returning I had a bit of a bug so I slowed down and rested. While I rested I quilted up pieces for another mondo bag,

And 8 mug rugs/hot pads stitched and trimmed,

A few days ago I long arm quilted up three different patterns, each with a different thread color on some pretty floral fabric. I used a Farmers Market banana print for the reverse side. These are cut and ready to become totes. It's hard to see the design, but the texture is awesome.

Four more client quilts have been quilted up and returned:

I enjoy seeing what others have made. People can be so creative. And it's such fun when I get a scrappy quilt to see how many of the fabrics look familiar. 

I have 4 more client quilts to do in the next few weeks. Three will get a gentle meander, but one is a lovely Christmas piece and I hope that we can decide on something special for it. 

Then it was off to Five Loaves, Staples, Home Depot, and Publix before deciding to relax and enjoy the events of the day 

This is a real person, the costume would be good for a showing kids where the muscles actually are.

And the most "Not" scary man I know.

I'm Back From Vacation,,,

I had a great time! Loved seeing my friends and family members. The Grandkids are growing and give  me a lot of joy filled times. We saw a lot of beautiful sites, ate great food, played some silly games, and really kicked back and relaxed.

Roses are still blooming in North Carolina.

I need to go check the intention list, make some plans, and find my swimsuit! I'm going to the beach tomorrow, just because!

Vacation Days 1&2

Did the rows of stitching (above) on the first travel day. 

And these are little areas across the back of the jacket.

I purchased it from Coldwater Creek a few years ago for under $25.00. I dyed it with Procion MX dyes from Dharma Trading Co. using an ice dyeing technique I'd read about. It is of rayon and spandex so the way it accepts dye is very different than cotton. I like how it's  color is a very ethereal. I'm using any colors of pearl cotton that I pull from my stash. I don't know if I will ever wear it, but I do want to cover the entire jacket with stitches, appliqués, embellishments of any kind. 

It's one of those 'bucket' list things that I've decided to do, just because I want to. That's kinda hard for me, as I always think I should be doing something that has an end purpose. I will trust God on this one. He will show me the purpose when it's done, if not before. Much like the afghan I made recently.
