Third Week of November

Not much time got spent in my sewing room this week. I attended several meetings and had some appointments that couldn't be postponed any longer.
I did get a few things accomplished.

Two quilts were long armed for clients.
This is a 'red' turning twenty pattern. I quilted it with a daisy design.

And this precious one got a small sized meander.

I did a little stitching on a needle holder

I took the center star block apart. The points would have gotten nipped off when I put it into the settings. After pressing the pieces I found that they were just a smidge off.  I checked the paper print out I had for the diamond and found out that it was not accurate. I recut all of the pieces and followed the directions very carefully. I'm very pleased with my new center block for the Batik quilt.

It trimmed up beautifully and is flat.

The replacement of our floor joists, subflooring, etc etc in the laundry room and guest bathroom is completed. I asked for a kitchen sink as I wanted to be able to use it for dyeing fabric.

This sink will be perfect for ice dyeing.

Tonight we have our Thanksgiving Dinner at church. I'm bringing my specialties: veggie and fruit trays!
I'm so thankful our local grocery store always has them available. Yep, you guessed it! I'm not much of a cook, in fact if it weren't for DH loving to cook I'd probably be at ideal weight, or depleted monetarily.

Lots of company coming in next week, so I'm guessing my creative time will be curtailed. Oh well, I can always carry those projects over for another month. I'm going to enjoy the people in my life while I have them. I hope you do the same.

May God bless you with loved ones to share your time with,
Luann

Madtatter,
Judy, from my Wednesday stitching group, showed us how to do them. She had one with an adorable turtle on it. I'll see about getting a picture of it posted on the final review of this month. I'd like to come up with an owl on one for one of my Granddaughters. I'll have to search Pinterest for inspiration.
Thanks for stopping by

I love the first quilt Luann but I have no idea what 'turning twenty' is!
Hoping all is well with you and yours - it's turned bitterly cold here!

Gill,
Originally, I believe, a turning twenty quilt was a way of using twenty fat quarters. All fat quarters were cut into the same specific measurements. Then you would 'mix em up' as you sewed these back together. Many people use the dimensions and fewer fat quarters to make crib or twin quilts.
Another great pattern for a fabric that has a large print that you don't want to cut into small pieces is Just Can't Cut It. I made one and I used 6 fabrics. A queen size top was cut and sewed together in a long afternoon! It's a very good pattern.
I'll have to put some of these patterns on the schedule for future posts. Maybe during 2016 I can make that an intention,,,

Have a wonderful Sunday,
Luann

I like the daisy pattern you chose for the Turning Twenty quilt. Red is a favorite color--no surprise to you I know!--so anytime I see red in a quilt, my heart does a loop de lou for joy!--Terry

Terry,
My client helped choose the pattern. There are over 1,000 available designs in the program already. And I have the availability to produce more. There isn't a printed book with them in it, so I keep trying to use different patterns so I can see how they stitch out. Some are whole cloth quilting patterns, others are edge to edge, some borders, corners, motifs, and then lots of blocks. Many of the blocks can be attached so the print edge to edge, but not all designs work for that.
I'm still searching for a decent box that is sturdy. It may end up being an Easter gift,,,, or, perhaps I could deliver it and then go to a special quilting event. Hmm, I must put on my thinking cap!
I'm always inspired by your activities that you share on your blog.
May God bless your day with the love of special friends,
Luann
